Technical Specifications

Before you begin, please make sure your computer meets or exceeds the following specifications.

This resource contains two sections. The specifications below relate to the general introductory information provided. Please note that the Virtual Worlds resource may require higher specifications in order to function as originally designed.

Hardware




  • 600 MHz or Pentium III or equivalent running windows 2000/XP, or
  • Macintosh G4 running OSX
  • 512 MB RAM
  • 800 x 600 display (1024 x 768 or higher recommended) with a minimum 16 bit colour
  • CD ROM drive
  • Sound card and speakers or headphones
  • Internet Access 56 Kbps or above (to follow links)

Access to a printer would also be useful in order to print out documents included with each section of the resource.

Software




  • Microsoft® Windows® 98, 2000, XP (PC users) or
  • Mac OS® X and above (Macintosh® users)
  • Microsoft® Internet Explorer 6 with JavaScript and CSS support enabled or
  • Netscape® Navigator 6.2 or higher with JavaScript and CSS support enabled
  • Flash® version 7 or later is recommended
  • programs such as Microsoft® Word and Excel, PowerPoint®, to open and use downloadable forms, checklists and worksheets

You will require the following plug-ins to run the multimedia interactions in this resource:

Get Adobe Acrobat Reader imageSome documents available in this resource are in a Portable Document Format (PDF) format. Website addresses which have these types of files usually finish their address with .pdf and you will require Acrobat® Reader® installed on your computer to view these pages.

Macromedia® Shockwave® and Flash® Player
